It’s been 2 weeks now since I did that and the pile has shrunk a solid 7 inches and is steaming like crazy when I lift to add kitchen scraps. I layered the cut grass a few inches deep, watered the grass clippings, covered with the failed compost, watered, added the next grass layer and rinsed and repeated. Ended up taking me 2 days to cut it all and stack but here’s what I did. I had the grass grow for 2 weeks before I was able to cut it so I had a ton of grass ready to cut. I could still see leaves from the fall of last year. After basically having the grass just become a massive pile (4x4x4 ft) of grass clippings, oak/maple/pine needles, and random yard waste I wasn’t getting anywhere. I’ve got 6K sq ft of Bermuda so you can imagine there’s a lot of input. Been trying for a solid year and finally got it going.
